just before things go right
everything will go wrong
just before the morning light
you'll detect the dawn
but the analogy is wrong
you won't suspect a thing
you'll just keep wondering
how long it's happening
just before your heart begins to break
you will fall in love
just before the sky falls apart
it rains manna from above
but it's not the type of life you really need
no it is not from god
there are a million different types of light
all trying to do their job
after the world comes to an end
you will find the time
to differentiate your friends
from the figments of your mind
but it won't be so easy
for to tell apart
there are so many awful things
a part of who we are
so if you want time to stand still
you'd best be on the move
we are cogs in an endless wheel
and you can slip into a groove
you'll be a wrench in the gears
that cycle through the years
just let the pressure of your fears
exhaust you of your tears
everything that goes up
eventually comes down
the more you keep your head in the clouds
it's buried deeper in the ground
but you belong on the surface
and you can ride the wave
there is no real way of drowning
that can't be washed away
so after things go right
nothing will ever go wrong
once there is a morning light
you can write yourself that song
where the analogies are wrong
and no one's listening
they're all just wandering
what it's supposed to mean
